This summer, Discover’s Children’s Forum have been working with the LEGO Group to co-create a truly spectacular new play street.
This year, LEGO® Story Street has been co-created with children and families from across Discover, bringing together ideas from our Children’s Forum, After School Stories and Mighty Mega SEND Club.
Our Children’s Forum worked alongside the LEGO Story Street team from the early planning stages, reflecting on last year’s Street and imagining what they wanted to see this summer. Their ideas have shaped the weekly Build of the Week themes, inspired new craft activities including LEGO printing and decorating phone cases with LEGO tiles, and influenced the design of the sensory-friendly quiet space.
Children attending After School Stories also played an important role in the co-design process, sharing ideas for creative activities and helping to develop crafts for children of different ages, including LEGO printing and making LEGO “burbles” for younger siblings.
At our Mighty Mega SEND Club, children and families explored how LEGO DUPLO could be used alongside storytelling and imaginative play. Their ideas helped shape the sensory elements of LEGO Story Street, including opportunities for large-scale building and a calmer breakout space designed with accessibility and inclusive play in mind.
To celebrate the collaboration, children from all three groups have worked together to create three LEGO mosaic, which will be displayed on LEGO Story Street throughout the summer.
Story Street is kindly supported by the LEGO Foundation, and is free to access with your Discover Entry ticket.
