Scenic Painting Volunteers

Application closing on Mon 15 Apr 9am

Discover Children’s Story Centre is the UK’s first hands-on creative literature space for children aged 0-11 years and their grown-ups, dedicated to generating a love of language, literature, and stories.

We work alongside authors and illustrators to create immersive installations, designed to make visitors feel like they are walking into a picture book. Authors and illustrators we’ve worked with include Rob Biddulph, David Litchfield, Judith Kerr, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

We are currently producing our new exhibition with award-winning author/illustrator Nadia Shireen. During the production period, we work collaboratively with set, scenic, sound and lighting designers, creating high quality immersive experiences for our visitors.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with the install of our fantastic new exhibition, helping us to create an enchanting and immersive ‘Monster Funfair’ for children and their families. We require assistance with scenic, set and prop painting throughout the exhibition install, as well as other general assistance during the build period.

Dates of work: 5 June – 18 July 2024

Ideally volunteers will be available for regular weekly or consecutive shifts. London travel and lunch expenses will be covered.

To apply, please email your CV and portfolio, with a short paragraph outlining why you’re interested in the role to recruitment@discover.org.uk by 9am, Monday 15 April.
