Scenic Painting Volunteers — Immersive Children’s Exhibition

Application closing on Mon 20 Apr 12am

Discover Children’s Story Centre is the UK’s first hands-on creative literature space for children aged 0-11 years and their grown-ups, dedicated to generating a love of language, literature and stories.

Discover works alongside authors and illustrators to create immersive installations, designed to make visitors feel like they are walking into a picture book. Authors and illustrators we’ve worked with include Rob Biddulph, David Litchfield, Judith Kerr, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

We are currently producing our new exhibition, which will immerse visitors in a world through the eyes of our main character. During the production period, we work collaboratively with illustrators, authors, set, scenic, sound and lighting designers, creating high quality immersive experiences for our visitors.

We are looking for Scenic Art volunteers to assist with the install of our fantastic new exhibition, helping us to create a completely enchanting and immersive environment for children and their families. We require assistance with scenic, set and prop painting throughout the exhibition install period.

This experience would provide a brilliant opportunity for early career Scenic Artists or Scenic Art students wishing to gain practical experience and to make contacts within the community arts and theatre industries.

The exhibition will run for 12 months and be visited by around 120,000 people.
