Creative Wellbeing Programme

Creative Wellbeing Programme

All projects

Raising children's mental health awareness, enhancing literacy and oracy skills, and encouraging confidence.

Delivered over ten in-school or digital sessions between October and December 2021, this whole-school programme aims to raise children’s mental health awareness, enhance literacy and oracy skills, and encourage confidence.

With medical artist, writer and educator Merlin Evans, Discover Story Builders will deliver an immersive storytelling performance and a series of craft and literacy workshops in which pupils will learn to recognise, explore and creatively express ideas related to mental wellbeing.

Find out more about Merlin Evans’ work here. Please note that parts of their portfolio are aimed at adults and include illustrations of human anatomy.

Teachers will also be invited to take part in digital Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions, enabling them to build on the work done with Discover and deliver their own sessions in the classroom.

The project culminates with a showcase of pupil’s creations for families, carers and the wider school community.

Discover’s Creative Wellbeing Programme is FREE and gives participating schools access to:

A digital storytelling performance, available for pupils across age ranges and the entire school.

Two creative workshops for a Year 2 and Year 3 class led by Merlin Evans and a Discover Story Builder.

Three creative workshops for a Year 4 and Year 5 class led by Merlin Evans and a Discover Story Builder.

Digital CPD sessions for educators with tips and ideas to build on the work led by Discover and deliver another 5 activities in the classroom.

A showcase of pupils’ creations, either in person or digital, accessible to pupils, families and carers.
